Art has been repairing and making knives since 1978. He learned to pound steel at age 10, taken in by a farrier near his home in North Sydney, Cape Breton. Growing up beside a steel manufacturing plant gave him an early education in carbon steel that no classroom offers. He is a lifetime hunter, fisherman, and chef. That combination made him a demanding critic of every blade he picked up. His working life covered military service, construction, business, IT, and information security. He has written books and music. The fields changed. The knives stayed. Artrizan Knife is not a hobby that became a business. It is 46 years of knowing what a blade needs to do, and making it do that.
